The NEW Track
The new track will be part of the Tamworth Racing Precinct. It is to be located on Tamworth Regional Council & Tamworth Jockey Club land adjacent to the Tamworth Race Course between Brittens Road and Jewry Street on what is currently known as Federation Park.
Once adjustments are done to the 1600 metre starting chute on the racecourse, a new paceway of 950 metres in length, 19 metres in width and with a turning radius of approx 85 metres will be constructed.
Facilities will include:
- A covered, partly enclosed public viewing area. This area will include canteen, bar and tote facilities.
- A covered outdoor tiered viewing area with a seating capacity of approx 750 spectators.
- Covered race day stables for 110 horses, adjacent to the parade ring and grassed spectator area.
- Public parking for 340 cars in an area shared with the adjacent Tamworth Race Course.
- Separate float parking.
All surface water from the facility will be collected on-course and then reused for track watering and maintenance of the landscaped areas.
The Tamworth Greyhound Club has the intention of placing a state of the art sand based track, in-field of the harness track, the final design of which is yet to be determined.
