NATTY STABLES HAVE A DOUBLE AT TAMWORTH

Ken Natty trained two winners at last Thursday’s Tamworth meeting having to wait for the penultimate and the last to produce the goods.

Leighmont – driven by Sam Ison – won the Hazells Farm & Fertilizers Service Pace whilst Jedi Superstar – driven by Sarah Rushbrook – took out the BMR Quarries Pace.

Ken Natty owns and trains both the pacers and works them on the Tamworth Paceway with a small team of only three in work.

"Leighmont raced true to his form" said Natty "when Sam pulled the horse out and let him run he did the job real good"

"I think the horse is improving as well"

Leighmont (Village Jasper-Blue Moon Navajo) made a run three wide around the field as the bell sounded after sitting four back on the outside running line.

Dontbefoolish (Stacey Weidemann) did put up some opposition to Leighmont down the home straight on the final occasion but Leighmont came away for a 5.9 metre win over Dontbefoolish and Ireadthenewstoday (Cameron Davies) 11.5 metres away third.

"I am really happy with Sam’s drive – he did everything I told him" added Natty.

Jedi Superstar was the surprise package for the stables.

"He was coming back off a break" said Natty.

"He surprised me how he got home and how Sarah was able to get in touch with the field from that draw"

Jedi Superstar commenced from the 10 barrier.

"Sarah did a really good job. I really expected the horse to be tailed out from that draw’

For Rushbrook the win also had an added bonus as she was declared the winner of The Pub Group Drive of the Day.

"Sam (Ison) and I will have to split the bottle of wine now" joked Rushbrook after the race.

"I always accept a drive off Kenny" said Rushbrook "He knows his horses inside out".

"I have driven all of Kenny’s three horses to a win now" added Rushbrook as she spoke of wins behind Jedi Superstar, Leighmont and Gotta Feeling.

"He (Jedi Superstar) felt good when I went out on the track so I knew he would be there abouts".

"Sitting three back – I wasn’t too concerned. I know he has a good turn of foot and I didn’t get out till about the 200 and he really let down"

"I am my own worst critic but everything was travelling along nice. The speed was on up front and he got home nicely"

With a strongly contested race for C4 and above pacers Rushbrook knew there was some nice horses in the field.

"There is always threats in a race with that class of horse – you always rely on luck and try and put the horse where they should be for a chance"

Sunrose Don (Lola Weidemann) led the field while Jedi Superstar was three back on the outside running line but turning into the home straight on the final occasion Rushbrook set sail with the Elsu-Pumpkin eight year old gelding.

Jedi Superstar had a 2.4 metre win over Sunrose Don and Bien Hoa (Michael Formosa) a head away third.

"Ken just had both horses spot on"
